Adult Psychological Assessments

We offer comprehensive psychological evaluations for adults seeking clarity, insight, and guidance related to neurodevelopmental and mental health concerns. Whether you are exploring a possible diagnosis such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or ADHD, or hoping to better understand patterns in learning, behavior, or emotional functioning, we tailor each evaluation to your individual needs and goals.

Why Adults Seek Assessment

Adults pursue assessments for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Gaining a clearer understanding of lifelong challenges in communication, organization, or relationships
  • Exploring possible diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or mood and anxiety disorders
  • Seeking documentation for academic, workplace, or licensing accommodations
  • Supporting therapeutic work or personal development
  • Clarifying strengths and areas of difficulty in problem-solving, memory, or executive functioning

We can assess for a broad range of concerns and are happy to help you determine the best evaluation scope based on your referral questions.

A Personalized, Evidence-Based Approach

Every adult assessment begins with a thorough intake to understand your history, current concerns, and evaluation goals. From there, we design an assessment battery that may include cognitive testing, executive functioning measures, behavioral rating scales, and structured diagnostic interviews. With your consent, we may also include input from a partner, friend, or family member to provide additional perspective when assessing for conditions such as ASD or ADHD.

 Your evaluation will include:

  • A detailed clinical interview and review of relevant history
  • Standardized testing selected to address your referral concerns
  • Optional inclusion of input from family or close contacts (with your consent)
  • A feedback session to review the results and discuss next steps
  • A written report summarizing findings, diagnostic impressions, and tailored recommendations

Compassionate and Affirming Care

Our evaluations are neurodivergent-affirming, collaborative, and strengths-focused. We recognize the importance of honoring your lived experience and making this process transparent, respectful, and empowering.

Adult Assessment FAQ

How do I know if an evaluation might be helpful?

Many adults seek an evaluation because they have lifelong questions about how they think, learn, communicate, or experience the world. Others are struggling with attention, organization, relationships, work demands, anxiety, burnout, or feeling different from their peers. An evaluation can provide greater clarity, self-understanding, and guidance for moving forward.

Can adults be diagnosed with autism or ADHD?

Yes. Many autistic and ADHD adults are not identified until adolescence or adulthood. Some people learn to mask or compensate for their challenges, while others may have been overlooked because their strengths helped them succeed in school or work. An evaluation can help determine whether autism, ADHD, or another condition may explain your experiences.

Can autism and ADHD look different in women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals?

Yes. Autism and ADHD can present differently in women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals, which may contribute to delayed or missed identification. Many people learn to mask their differences by consciously observing and imitating social behaviors, which can make challenges less visible to others. As a result, they may be more likely to experience anxiety, burnout, exhaustion, or feelings of being misunderstood. A comprehensive evaluation considers these experiences and recognizes the many ways neurodivergence can present across different individuals and identities.

What are some signs that an adult autism evaluation may be helpful?

Adults who pursue autism evaluations often report lifelong differences in social communication, sensory sensitivities, strong interests, difficulties with change or uncertainty, exhaustion from masking, or a feeling that they have always experienced the world differently. An evaluation can help clarify whether autism may be part of the picture.

What are some signs that an ADHD evaluation may be helpful?

Adults with ADHD often experience difficulties with attention, organization, time management, task completion, procrastination, forgetfulness, or emotional regulation. These challenges can affect work, relationships, finances, and daily life. An evaluation can help identify strengths and challenges and guide recommendations for support.

What is involved in an adult evaluation?

The evaluation process typically includes interviews, questionnaires, review of relevant history, and standardized assessment measures. Depending on the referral questions, additional testing may be recommended. The goal is to develop a comprehensive understanding of your strengths, challenges, and support needs.

What will I learn from the evaluation?

You will receive information about your cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and developmental functioning, along with any relevant diagnoses. Most importantly, the evaluation is designed to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and identify strategies and supports that align with your goals.

What happens after the evaluation?

Following the assessment, we will review the findings together during a feedback session and discuss recommendations, resources, and next steps. You will receive a comprehensive written report that can serve as a roadmap for understanding yourself and accessing appropriate supports.

Can an evaluation help me access accommodations?

In some cases, evaluation findings may support requests for workplace, educational, or testing accommodations. Recommendations are individualized and based on your specific needs and circumstances.
