Level Up!
Social Skills through Dungeons & Dragons
Level Up! is a small, supportive group designed for autistic young adults who want to build confidence and connection through Dungeons & Dragons.
This group combines D&D gameplay with practical social skills therapy in a way that feels natural and low-pressure in a small group setting.
We’ll work on things like starting conversations, navigating group interactions, and building friendships—with space to practice both during the game and in real life.
Led by a licensed psychologist and an experienced Dungeon Master, Level Up! is a neurodiversity-affirming groupwhere you can be yourself, connect with others, and grow at your own pace. Beginners and experienced D&D players welcome!

What Makes Level Up! Different?
Rather than practicing social skills in abstract or scripted ways, Level Up! integrates skill-building into a collaborative D&D campaign, where communication, teamwork, and problem-solving happen organically.
Participants have the opportunity to:
- Practice starting and maintaining conversations
- Learn how to make plans and follow through
- Build confidence in group interactions
- Develop skills for friendship and connection
- Navigate shared decision-making and collaboration
Who Is This Group For?
Level Up! may be a good fit for autistic young adults who:
- Want to build confidence in social situations
- Enjoy (or are curious about) Dungeons & Dragons
- Prefer structured, small-group environments
- Are interested in connecting with others in a supportive setting
How It Works
Each session includes three parts:
1. Check-In & Skill Focus (approx. 15 minutes)
We start with a structured, supportive discussion where participants:
- Learn practical communication strategies
- Set goals for the next session
2. D&D Campaign
The group then transitions into a live D&D game led by an experienced Dungeon Master. During gameplay, participants naturally practice:
- Communication and teamwork
- Problem-solving and flexibility
- Perspective-taking and collaboration
3. Debrief (approx. 30 minutes)
The session wraps up :
- Reflect on communication and gameplay
- Collaboratively identify aims for the following session
- Journal reflection
Between sessions, participants may choose to work on small, personalized goals—such as reaching out to a peer, organizing a hangout, or exploring other social opportunities in the community.
Individualized Starting Assessment
Before joining the group, each participant meets individually with one of our psychologists to:
- Identify personal goals
- Understand strengths and challenges
- Help ensure a good fit for the group
Level Up! is a neurodiversity-affirming space—participants are encouraged to be themselves, and support is tailored to each individual’s needs and pace.
